FingerText
FINGERTEXT is a content programming tool.

Activa Multimèdia offers a teletext and subtitling system providing a wide range of configurations while ensuring low exploitation and maintenance costs. As a result, the investment pays back almost immediately.

It also includes services that can be re-used for digital TV.
FINGERTEXT meets the needs of both small TV broadcasters operating on limited budgets, and those of large TV networks requiring high-performance systems.
Modules
  • TRANSMITTER: Hardware connected to the video channel that inserts the teletext signal to the PAL signal lines that are not displayed on-screen.
  • PAGE EDITOR: This allows the creation and editing of Teletext pages in PTX format for any Windows platform®. It consists of a computer equipped with special software developed by Activa Multimèdia.
  • SERVER: Central system allowing data editing and system management. It controls the On-Air teletext being broadcast.
  • SUBTITLING MODULE: Software module needed in the server to manage live and recorded subtitling services.
  • LIVE ON-LINE SUBTITLING, WITHOUT SCRIPT: This patented system is unique in the market in allowing subtitling of live broadcasts where no script is available (parliamentary sessions, interviews, sports broadcasts, etc.). It allows users to subtitle on-line with a time delay of just 7 seconds. The system employs a team of 5 people who transcribe in 2-second shifts.
  • SUBTITLING OF LIVE PROGRAMS, WITH SCRIPT: This allows live subtitling of previously edited texts. The tool can be linked to a news system in order to automatically gather items for subsequent use in the subtitling of live broadcasts.
  • SUBTITLING OF RECORDED PROGRAMS: This allows films, series, programs, etc. to be subtitled before broadcast for the hearing impaired.
  • VIDEO CODING EQUIPMENT: Equipment for coding video in WMV files, allowing subtitling without using VTRs.
  • XML MODULE: The XML is installed in the server and imports/exports XML files from/to the data base from any source.
  • FINGERTEXT CHAT: This is a system for receiving SMS messages in TXT format, based on the entry of such messages by an SMS operator. The message reception system includes:
    • The identification software that allows filtering and warning of offensive language, etc.
    • A device for inserting messages in the teletext pages.
  • FINGERTEXT NEWS: Provides various kinds of updated national, regional, and local information: news, weather, traffic, airports, etc.

Advantages

  • An additional source of income for TV companies, given that exploitation costs are far lower than the potential revenue that can be generated from advertising.
  • Many potential sources of advertising revenue: sponsoring of services, corporate and institutional advertising, small business and even personal ads.
  • A wide-reaching communication channel: it is estimated that some 60% of households have teletext-equipped TV sets.
  • Perfect for conveying local information for both commercial and public service purposes.
  • Information on the TV channel’s own services: TV and local radio programming, contact with programs (to be in the audience, to participate, etc.), reception parameters, business information (headquarters, telephone numbers, customer service, etc.).
  • Sponsoring services: sponsorship to given pages (weather, transport timetables, sports information, cooking recipes, etc.).
